Missing your younger days when you felt in shape?

Missing your younger days when you felt in shape?

There aren’t any special workouts or changes you need to make just because you’re older. There are a few things you might do differently than you did in your 20’s though.

My number one suggestion?

Prioritize feeling good over performance.

I’ve talked about this a lot recently because it’s been one of my personal priorities.

When you were in high school and college, you may have prioritized sports performance over everything. Now you’ve got a career and a family. You have more responsibility and are getting pulled in lots of different directions.

Sports performance may not be at the top of your list, but you may not know how to work out any differently than you were taught back then. This can be a recipe for burnout, injury, or just not feeling great.

Here are some workout ideas to keep you healthy with minimal discomfort. Pick one and try it out:

Pick exercises that feel good and are easy on your joints (try dumbbells or cable machines).

Do more single joint exercises and focus on feeling each individual muscle working.

Do more low impact, low intensity cardio like cycling instead of running.

Spend 5 minutes every day doing mobility work.

These things may not seem cool, but feeling good is cool to me. Try one of these ideas out and see how you feel.
